As a binational airport, EuroAirport is working in close cooperation with the health authorities of France (Agence régionale de santé, ARS) and of Switzerland (Federal Office of Health, Bundesamt für Gesundheit, BAG / Office federal de santé publique, OFSP). Protection of all people and personnel passing through the airport and based at the airport site is a number one priority.
Vivienne Gaskell, Media Spokesperson and Head of Communications at EuroAirport, has decided to take up a new professional challenge. She will be leaving the binational airport on 20 March 2020.
As a result of the construction of a new roundabout on the airport road in the Swiss sector one kilometre from the passenger terminal building a temporary deviation has been put into place on the right-hand side of the road close to the S4 car park.
Passenger numbers reached a new high of 9.1 million in 2019. In the last four months of the year, there was a slowdown in year-on-year growth. Express freight, an important service segment for the regional economy, also increased. Cargo traffic, on the other hand, showed a year-on-year decline overall. EuroAirport has defined its Strategy 2030 on the basis of sustainable development.
Key figures at the end of the Year 2019
The new car park on the Swiss side of the airport was put into service on Friday, 20 December 2019. Il allows free parking for the first 20 minutes, is located at a short walking distance from the airport building and offers 250 more spacious parking spaces (235 for the public, 15 for limousines).

At the end of July, EuroAirport and Swiss Indoors signed a contract to continue and extend their partnership. As of 2020, the airport is to sponsor Switzerland’s biggest sport event for a further three years.
In recent months, EuroAirport has been partially evacuated several times due to luggage left unattended. The airport is therefore launching a new awareness campaign, reminding passengers not to leave luggage unattended at any time.
EuroAirport has been presented an award by the independent experts of the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) for the most efficient European airport in its category for 2019. The award shows that EuroAirport can hold its place in an international competitive environment.
