In spring 2026, EuroAirport’s main runway will be refurbished and temporarily closed from April 15 to May 20, 2026. During this time, flight operations will be handled via the secondary runway. The airlines have now finalised their flight schedules for this phase. Compared to normal flight operations, services will be reduced but still provide flight connections to important European business and city destinations as well as to a number of vacation destinations.
An emergency exercise will be conducted at EuroAirport during the night from November 18 to November 19. The exercise is led by the State of France.
On Sunday, 26 October 2025, the 2025/2026 winter flight schedule came into effect at EuroAirport. Until 28 March 2026, 24 airlines will offer a total of 88 direct connections to 33 countries – mainly within Europe and the Mediterranean region.
Since February 1, 2022, the following has been in effect at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg: aircraft must leave their parking position for take-off by 23:00 at the latest. As a result, the number of flights taking off after 23:00 has decreased significantly - in 2024, it was over 60% lower than in 2019, and in the first seven months of 2025, it was even more than 70% lower.
After around ten years of closure, EuroAirport will be able to reopen part of its observation deck to visitors on October 18, 2025. The observation deck had been closed due to security reasons. Thanks to a newly developed security concept, partial reopening is now possible - much to the delight of the Airport.
As of today, a large banner displaying an iconic artwork by Yayoi Kusama, visible from afar, constitutes the new decor of EuroAirport’s control tower. The bright yellow pumpkin motif references the current exhibition by the internationally acclaimed Japanese artist at the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen (Switzerland) – and is presented to an international audience via the Airport.
On October 12, 2025, the European Union will launch the new Entry-Exit System (EES). This Europe-wide system documents the entries and exits of non-EU nationals in the Schengen Area to increase security and efficiency at the borders.
EuroAirport has completely revamped its website: focussing on mobile devices, its state-of-the-art design makes browsing more user-friendly. The relaunch is another milestone in the Airport’s digital development process and aims to offer visitors an even better online experience.
The latest donation cheque from the joint Charity Water Project was handed over today at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Since the sales launch in 2018, EuroAirport and Dufry, in cooperation with the Foundation for children with cancer (“Stiftung für krebskranke Kinder”) are committed to helping critically ill children in the region. Thanks to the sale of Charity Water, the impressive sum of 347 000 EUR was raised during the period from January 2024 to June 2025. This brings the total amount of donations received by the Foundation at EuroAirport to date to 995 988 EUR.
Last weekend, summer vacation came to an end in the last regions around EuroAirport. Due to its trinational catchment area, the Airport’s summer vacation period is prolonged by several weeks each year. This summer, operations proved to be intense again: numerous thunderstorms and constraints related to European air traffic control providers temporarily lead to delays. Overall, however, operations ran smoothly and orderly.
EuroAirport will cease operations of Light and Leisure Aviation, currently based in the North Zone of the Airport, by the end of 2026 at the latest. The decision was made for business and planning reasons.
Summer vacation will soon begin in the tri-border area. For the upcoming weeks, EuroAirport is therefore expecting a very high volume of passengers. An early arrival at the Airport is therefore strongly recommended.
