Yayoi Kusama at EuroAirport: Tower banner makes art exhibition at Fondation Beyeler visible from afar

Texte formaté

As of today, a large banner displaying an iconic artwork by Yayoi Kusama, visible from afar, constitutes the new decor of EuroAirport’s control tower. The bright yellow pumpkin motif references the current exhibition by the internationally acclaimed Japanese artist at the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen (Switzerland) – and is presented to an international audience via the Airport.

By displaying the tower banner, EuroAirport aims to highlight and strengthen cultural diversity in the region. By making the prominent tower surface available for display, the Airport emphasises its commitment to promoting culture and creates an ideal opportunity to make art accessible to a wider public while fostering cross-border cultural connections. In the future, EuroAirport would like to make greater use of the tower to promote cultural projects in the Tri-Border Area.

The chosen subject - a pumpkin with a distinctive dot pattern - is one of Yayoi Kusama's best-known works and exemplifies her unmistakable visual language. It is lively, memorable, and of highly symbolic nature. EuroAirport is delighted to be able to bring the exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler to the public's attention by means of this contribution.

The exhibition “Yayoi Kusama” will be on display at the Fondation Beyeler from October 12, 2025, to January 26, 2026.
