A water salute inaugurates a new base! After operating regular flights out of Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg for a year, Corendon Airlines, an international airline headquartered in Antalya and Malta, has now decided to open a base at the Airport.

A new airline, a new base, new destinations and a new aircraft at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg: Helvetic Airways is bringing a batch of novelties to the tri-national region. On Thursday 8 July, the Swiss regional carrier officially opened its new base at Basel-Mulhouse Airport.

At its meeting on 18 March 2021, the Board of Directors of Basel-Mulhouse Airport welcomed two new Swiss members, Esther Keller and Kaspar Sutter, both State Councillors for the Canton of Basel-City. Ms Keller is Head of the Building and Transport Department while Mr Sutter is Head of the Department for Economic, Social, and Environmental Affairs.

This week, EuroAirport set up a COVID screening centre for passengers, accompanying persons and airport staff with the participation of a local laboratory. The screening centre offers both rapid antigenic tests and PCR tests, which the regulations of many countries require travellers to undergo before they travel.

Despite the uncertainties associated with the pandemic, a new seasonal flight schedule is now available at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg for summer 2021, which came into force on 28 March. New destinations in Europe and around the Mediterranean basin have been added, and new airlines are setting up operations at Basel-Mulhouse Airport.

Performing a full airport runway and taxiway survey plays an essential part in EuroAirport’s core mission of keeping air travel safe. To optimise the technology used in the inspections, which have until now been performed at night by its employees, Basel-Mulhouse Airport is becoming one of the first three airports in France to roll out automated inspections by a vehicle equipped with 3D-laser sensors, an innovation shortening the process from 25 nights to just 4 hours.

The Airport Carbon Accreditation certification Level 2, first awarded to EuroAirport in 2018, was confirmed for the second time in late August. The Airport is now working towards ACA Level 3 accreditation in 2021.

Since Saturday 1 August 2020, in accordance with French legislation, mandatory COVID-19 tests are carried out at EuroAirport for all travelers from countries at risk. At present, this applies to arrivals from Serbia and Turkey.
