Re-opening of Airport Hall 2
End of the first two phases of refurbishment work
Thursday 28 July 2011, during a ceremony in the presence of media and companies from the airport site, Deputy Director Vincent Devauchelle and the works project management group E2I/MALLET/SERAT symbolically re-opened Hall 2 in the French sector of the Airport, which has been completely renovated in order to offer the public greater comfort.
With an area of 1300 m2, the floor of Hall 2 has been covered with grey stone tiles in harmony with the new infrastructure of the adjoining Hall 1. The partition between Halls 1 and 2 has been removed to enlarge the space, and in particular, there is new lighting.
These changes allow the future creation of a real link between all the reception and check-in functions, symbolic of the policy of opening borders initiated in 2009 with the Schengen agreement now applied to the Swiss part of the airport.
This main thoroughfare will allow better location of the Tour Operators, the Eurobar, police and customs control points, and the Bureau de Change.
The new architectural concept corresponds to the need to open up the spaces of the older Airport building. It makes them better lit and more easily accessible for passengers. Coming in from the parking areas, passengers can easily get their bearings and hence save time.
