EuroAirport welcomes its 5 millionth passenger marking an all-time high in passenger traffic

On Wednesday morning 28 December 2011 EuroAirport welcomed its 5 millionth passenger thus achieving its highest passenger volume figure since its creation in 1946. To celebrate this record result, EuroAirport awarded a passenger from the region a voucher for a return flight from EuroAirport with a value of 500 € or 700 CHF. The passenger who was drawn at random was booked on a flight with Lufthansa to Munich (LH 2395, Departure 12.50 hours).

The winning passenger receives the voucher symbolically for all passengers travelling from EuroAirport on this historic day exceeding the 5 million mark.

Hitting the 5 millionth passenger mark, EuroAirport exceeds the record passenger figure obtained in 2007 when nearly 4.3 million passengers used the airport.

EuroAirport welcomes the positive development in passenger traffic over the last few months and expects to finish the year 2011 with just over 5 million passengers (+22% compared with 2010). For 2012, the Airport Authority forecasts more moderate growth in passenger figures.

Today, EuroAirport is served by 20 airlines. The scheduled flight network comprises 62 airports in around 30 different countries. The strong presence of member airlines of the three major alliances – Star Alliance, OneWorld and SkyTeam – enables EuroAirport to offer, several times a day, intercontinental connections from the main European hubs: Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Munich, Paris and Vienna.
