EuroAirport reports a positive result for 2017 and takes into account the challenges of developing the airport in a balanced way

Increase in passenger and freight traffic, slight growth in flight movements

7.9 million passengers passed through EuroAirport in 2017. Compared with the previous year, passenger numbers rose by just under 8 %, more or less in line with the average for all European airports. EuroAirport added five new destinations to its scheduled flight route network, welcomed the Spanish airline Iberia for the first time, and offered more flights to business destinations in reply to demand. Against a backdrop of a robust global economy, EuroAirport also recorded an increase in the freight business of just under 11 % to some 112,000 tonnes. Transported air freight (cargo and express freight) rose by as much as 17 % to around 64,000 tonnes. The positive development in both these areas reflects strong regional demand for travel and freight connections from Basel-Mulhouse Airport.
