Employment figures at EuroAirport for 2016: around 6,400 jobs, 3 % more than in the previous year

At the end of 2016, around 6,400 people were employed on the EuroAirport site. This estimate is based on the annual staff survey in which 115 companies at the location participated. The current figures were published in the 2016 Annual Report.

Of the 6,375 jobs (as at 31 December 2016), more than 2,000 were generated by activities in the area of aircraft maintenance and refurbishment (33 %), highlighting the importance of this sector for EuroAirport. The freight sector ranks second (17 %) with over 1,000 employees. The 3,000-plus other jobs were distributed among passenger operations, authorities and other companies based at the airport site.

Of the 115 companies taking part in the survey, 61 are based in the Swiss and 54 in the French customs sectors. The Swiss companies employ 4,907 (77 %) and the French companies 1,468 (23 %) people.

Over 4,700 of the 6,400 employees live in France (75 %), just over 1,200 in Switzerland (19 %) and around 380 in Germany (6 %).
