This inaugural ceremony marks the completion of the refurbishment programme of the old part of the airport building. Begun in December 2010, the programme has cost a total of five million euros.

The refurbishment work aimed at transforming the departure halls (Halls 2 and 3) in the older part of the airport building into more welcoming, lighter and more pleasant reception areas for passengers. Spread over 18 months, the project work consisted of five key renovation phases: Hall 2 (departure, on the French side), the meeting room “Salon des Aviateurs”, Hall 3 (departure, on the Swiss side, achieved in two phases) and the “Street”, the cross-border passageway linking Halls 2 and 3.
