AirBridgeCargo Airlines to launch cargo flights from EuroAirport

As of 19 September 2014, AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), part of the Volga Dnepr Group and Russia’s largest scheduled cargo airline, will be launching cargo flights from EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

Using a Boeing 747-400, ABC will serve EuroAirport once a week, every Friday.

This new freighter service will link EuroAirport with the ABC hub at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport (SVO). In particular, it will permit Basel, home of many well-known companies in the healthcare industry, to be connected via Moscow to some of the major cities in Asia. The routing for the new operation will be Moscow – Paris – Basel – Moscow.

The ABC aircraft will depart for Moscow SVO at 22.50 hours (flight number RU 9124). EuroAirport welcomes the new ABC freighter connection since it corresponds well to the business needs of customers in Switzerland, Eastern France and Southern Germany.

ABC operates a fleet of twelve Boeing 747 freighters (series 400 and 800) with an average age of four years and serves a network of destinations in Europe, Asia and North America. The airline can transport any type of cargo including goods requiring special handling or a temperature controlled process.

ABC’s decision to operate out of EuroAirport comes shortly before the opening of the new Cargo Terminal located in the south-west zone 4 of the airport. Scheduled to go into service beginning of 2015, the new 21 000 m2 EuroAirport Cargo Terminal, representing an investment of 40 million euros, offers state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled infrastructure perfectly in line with the cool-chain requirements of local industry and logistics companies as well as extremely efficient freight processing.

The logistics sector in the region around EuroAirport in an important economic driver and represents a competitive advantage employing thousands of jobs.
