10 millionth easyJet passenger at EuroAirport
Thursday, 24 March 2011, EuroAirport and easyJet celebrated the 10 millionth easyJet passenger at Basel-Mulhouse Airport who was departing on flight EZY 7850 at 13.00 hours for Madrid.
easyJet began operating from EuroAirport at the end of March 2004. Today, the airline offers flights from EuroAirport to a total of 31 destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. With six Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft based at EuroAirport, easyJet employs more than 200 people.
EuroAirport welcomes the dynamic and positive development of easyJet s activities which over the last seven years have been a growth driver at the airport. Continually adjusting its flight programme to meet the needs of the three-country region, the airline has increased the number of tourists travelling via EuroAirport. The newly created passenger streams have benefitted not only the regional economy but also the hotels and restaurants in the area. In addition, easyJet s flight offering has significantly increased the attractiveness of the airport site as a whole.
In order to celebrate the 10 millionth easyJet passenger, all the passengers on each of the 23 departing flights from EuroAirport today had the possibility of winning a free easyJet flight together with a selection of free gifts and vouchers sponsored by EuroAirport, Dufry and the airport restaurant Autogrill. In addition, all 7 000 arriving and departing passengers as well as all easyJet staff were given a souvenir gift of the special celebration day.
